Happy Insurance Awareness Day!
Friday, June 28 is a day to celebrate the policies and people that protect what’s most important in our lives. Whether it’s your car, home, family, or business, policies guard against potentially devastating financial losses.
While the concept of providing financial protection against unfortunate incidents may seem like a modern idea, it is not. Let us tell you about the wonderful history of insurance.
Insurance Awareness Day Recognizes a Long History of Protection
The National Today website reports that at around 3000 B.C, Chinese merchants mixed a variety of goods when shipping to limit extreme losses from shipwrecks. Days of the Year also reports that language about insurance is even found in the Code of Hammurabi, which is believed to be the first written laws.
Of course, a large fire in London in 1666 is believed to have motivated Nicholas Barbon to create the first fire insurance company.
In the 1850s, the idea of policies to provide health coverage came into being. Then, on the eve of the 20th century, the invention of the automobile led to the creation of the first auto policy.
Now that you know more about the history of this wonderful invention, you may be wondering how to celebrate Insurance Awareness Day. The Keating Agency is happy to help you with this by conducting a review of your policies. We’ll help you determine if the policies you hold meet your financial and coverage needs.
Depending on what has happened in your life since your last policy update, you may need a policy you don’t presently have. Getting married, a new job, or the birth of a child impact your policies and your insurance needs. Major life purchases such as jewelry or expensive electronics also may need additional coverage.
As your local, independent insurance agent for 50 years, the Keating Agency has relationships with more than two dozen companies. This enables us to craft policies that meet your individual coverage and financial situation. This also means that we can keep our focus on our clients and not the insurers.
At the Keating Agency, we are here for you. Give us a call.
