HalloweenHalloween is just a week away.  So, it’s appropriate to ask: What frightens you?

Is it ghosts, ghouls, or things that go bump in the night?

Turning on the lights usually banishes those goblins.

Or are you afraid of the real world possibility of holiday tricksters vandalizing your home or car?

Let the Keating Agency help you take the fear out of the year’s scariest holidays.

Halloween Tricks Don’t Have to Spoil Your Holiday

Halloween fun means costume parties, candy, and watching your favorite scary movies.

One of the best parts of the holiday has always been the treats.  It is a joy to greet children dressed as their heroes, as someone they hope to grow up to be, or as something that scares them as a way to make it less frightening.  Vivid imaginations give these costumes power.

Trick or Treat!

HalloweenThis also is a time for mischief.  Going back to your youth, many of you may remember participating in some tricks.

Commonly, those involved toilet paper, shaving cream, and eggs.

Today, as homeowners and car-owners, the tricks of yesteryear don’t seem so harmless.

Our friends at the Insurance Information Institute (III) say having the right Homeowners Insurance, Umbrella Insurance, and Auto Insurance can provide some financial protection.  If your jack-o-lantern sets the house on fire, vandals damage your car, or a toddling tot trips and gets hurt, the right coverage can lessen the sting.  After your deductible, insurance can help pay for what you need.

Of course, depending on the damage, you may decide against filing a claim.  Damage that costs a little more than your deductible isn’t worth reporting.

Instead, the III recommends taking steps to prevent problems on Halloween.

  • Keep walkways clear
  • Tie down any loose chords or cables
  • Consider using LED lights instead of candles
  • Make certain the outside of your home is well lit
  • Consider parking in the garage if you have one.

Old Hallows Eve can be a wonderful occasion to greet neighborhood children.  It’s also a fun night to watch a classic horror film.  I suggest the original Night of the Living Dead.

However you spend your evening, the Keating Agency hopes it is one free of tricks and full of treats.  If you need to check on your policies, or have coverage questions, give us a call.

For 50 years as your local, independent insurance agency, the Keating Agency has been here for you.  We hope to continue serving you for 50 more.
