You can tackle some much needed tasks, spend some time outside, and reduce the possibility of Homewoners Insurance claims.
These projects can help take your mind off the current state of affairs. And when you are done, you can take satisfaction in the work you did to protect your home and family.
Make a Home Maintenance To-Do List
Connecticut experienced some strong storms recently. Clean your gutters if you haven’t already. Debris that causes water to back up in your gutters can damage your roof and foundation.
Look for cracks in your foundation. These can allow water to get into your home, as well as damage the stability of your home.
Check your roof. Even though we had a mild winter, roof damage could have happened.
Inspect outside wood structures and surfaces. Remove and replace any rotted wood. Power wash away any dirt, moss, or mold. Now may be a good time to re-stain or reseal these before you and your family spend more time outside.
Springtime is when dormant insects become active. Move any wood away from the house and empty containers holding water. Check for areas where insects or rodents could enter your home.
The Accuweather website says preventing insects from entering your homes includes making certain door and window screens are in good shape.
Now is also the time to schedule a maintenance check for your air conditioner or central air. You want to be certain these are in good working order before a blistering summer day.
And don’t forget to check your driveway and any walkways leading to your home. If a visitor trips and is hurt on your property, you could be looking at a lawsuit.
